Platform Tax & Unit Economics Paradox
When a platform maintains or increases its commission rate on producers (drivers, sellers), transaction volume growth fails to improve—and may even reduce—the marginal earnings per participant. This creates a structural contradiction where participant attrition outpaces transaction growth. Scale alone cannot resolve this paradox; breaking through requires either restructuring the revenue-sharing model or lowering commission rates.
