Paternalistic Regulation Paradox
Regulatory measures implemented by governments ostensibly to protect vulnerable groups often backfire due to information asymmetries, misaligned incentives, or execution costs. The protected parties lose opportunities to access information, develop independent judgment, and build resilience, ultimately increasing their long-term vulnerability.
