Social Construction of Scarcity

What appears to be an absolute natural constraint (such as land) is actually a product of the interaction between technology, institutions, and political will. When these three elements change, 'scarcity' transforms into 'abundance'—and vice versa. When something was once possible but no longer is, it's not because the physical world changed, but because our choices did.
