Principal-Agent Problem
A conflict of interest arising when one party (agent) acts on behalf of another (principal). Due to information asymmetry, misaligned goals, or perverse incentive structures, the agent may prioritize their own interests at the expense of the principal's. Classic examples include managers misappropriating shareholder funds, or founders being removed by parent companies to avoid paying bonuses.
