Comparative Advantage Geopolitical Trap
When a country achieves short-term cost or performance advantages by sourcing from a competitor nation, that competitor can weaponize supply chains through export controls, embargoes, or regulations to suddenly cut off access. This forces the dependent nation to rapidly restructure its supply chains, converting initial cost savings into structural losses. What appears as short-term rational procurement becomes long-term strategic vulnerability.
