Asset Re-pricing in Rising Rate Environment
When the risk-free rate of return (typically represented by government bond yields) rises, non-yielding assets such as precious metals become relatively less attractive. Investors reallocate capital from non-interest-bearing assets to interest-bearing assets, causing precious metal prices to decline. This reflects a fundamental principle of capital allocation: as opportunity costs increase, low-yielding assets are sold off.
