Platform Moat Softening
When a previously closed ecosystem is forced to open its core capabilities to external technologies because those capabilities are no longer proprietary, the competitive advantage built on 'only we can do this' rapidly erodes. The platform transforms from a 'gated fortress' into an 'open plaza'—its moat shifts from width to depth, and eventually disappears entirely.
