Lindy Effect
For things that don't decay naturally—such as books, ideas, and technologies—the expected remaining lifespan is proportional to how long they have already existed. A book that has circulated for 100 years is expected to circulate for another 100 years; one that has circulated for 10 years is expected to last another 10 years.
