Metacognitive Boundary Awareness
The ability of an intelligent system to accurately assess the limits of its own knowledge and distinguish between what it knows with confidence and what remains uncertain. This is not about knowledge itself, but rather self-reflection on knowledge reliability. When this awareness is absent, systems conflate facts with speculation at the same confidence level, leading to catastrophic decisions.
