Platform Data Paradox
Platforms accumulate user data through free services, then use it to train AI products that benefit users. But when AI begins directly consuming user-generated content—rather than merely recommending it—platforms face an ecological paradox: the stronger the AI, the weaker users' incentive to create content; the less content available, the scarcer the training data for AI.
