Scarcity-Induced Value Recalibration
When people experience temporary deprivation of a basic life convenience, they undergo a nonlinear upward adjustment in how they value that convenience. This causes them to pay significantly more to restore it than they would in normal circumstances. This shift is not a rational calculation, but rather a subjective revaluation driven by scarcity psychology.
