Competence-Confidence Inversion
In any given domain, people with limited ability tend to overestimate themselves due to lack of judgment standards, while true experts often exhibit lower confidence because they understand the complexity involved. This creates an inverted U-curve progression: ignorance → overconfidence → valley → mature confidence.
