Scarcity Distortion
When resource supply is limited, the human brain automatically overestimates its value, accelerates decision-making, and reduces rational analysis. This cognitive bias stems from evolutionary psychology—in ancestral times, scarce resources typically conferred survival advantages, so the brain became hardwired with a 'quick-grab' response mechanism. In modern business environments, even artificially created scarcity triggers the same primal fear response.
