Prioritization Tax
When demand surges from high-value customer segments (or applications), manufacturers prioritize supplying them, forcing other segments to accept reduced supply and higher prices. This 'scarcity reallocation' process appears profit-maximizing, but effectively imposes a hidden tax on lower-priority segments—they pay more while receiving less.
