Sunk Cost Fallacy
The tendency to overweight past, unrecoverable investments—money, time, or effort—when making future decisions, leading to continued commitment to projects that no longer merit investment. Rational decision-making should consider only marginal costs and marginal benefits; past expenditures are irrelevant to future choices.
