Peter Principle
In hierarchical organizations, employees are promoted based on their competence in their current role. However, each new position often requires entirely different skills. If an employee performs adequately, they continue to be promoted until they reach a position where they lack the necessary abilities. At this point, they stop advancing. Over time, the organization becomes filled with people stuck in positions where they are incompetent.
