Nominal-Real Perception Gap
A cognitive phenomenon where consumers feel optimistic based on nominal data (e.g., improved confidence indices) while their actual cost of living deteriorates due to persistent inflation, creating a severe disconnect between their behavioral decisions and psychological expectations. This reflects a human bias in high-inflation environments: being misled by short-term relative improvements while overlooking the long-term threat of persistently low absolute real conditions.
